The new season started in style with a record turnout for adult team trials, followed by a BBQ, games and family fun back at the club.
On the pitch, the men’s and ladies’ teams were put through their paces by the respective club captains, with a focus on close control, ball speed and a plenty of action for our ‘keepers to blow away the summer cobwebs! Small sided games then upped the intensity before we mixed up the men’s and ladies’ teams and played some competitive mixed matches to sharpen the skills ahead of the first matches next week.
It was brilliant to see so many of our youth section competing for positions in both the men’s and ladies’ teams, and there are sure to be several adult team debuts over the coming weeks. It was also great to see a few old(er) faces returning to the club, providing a really healthy mix of youth and experience which bodes well for the season ahead.
We were also joined by a large group of junior members, who were put through their paces on the ‘MUGA’ by Grant Wisson with a mixture of skills, games and a giant penalty shootout! The way they are progressing, it won’t be long before more of our juniors are knocking on the door of the adult teams.
A fantastic HockeyFest, and great way to kick off the new season which starts with friendlies on 15th September, followed by the first league matches on the 22nd September.
