“Firstly, a sincere apology for the missing report last week, captains duties take up several parts of the brain.
Onto this week! A strong squad ready for OMT at home, with Winchmore 2’s looking for a 3rd win in a row to keep their promotion push alive going into the match top of the league and hoping to stay there!
Winchmore start strong as always, getting Luke on the score sheet early on for 1-0, Luke keeping his dreams alive by pushing for top goal scorer, netting his 14th this season.
Closely followed by surprise runner up in Ellis getting his 9th of the season and Winchmores second with a smart deflection which he absolutely knew everything about and meant. 2-0 to Winchmore. Adam Macray then wins the ball with great tackle, runs to top D and bangs the third in. (Description details fuzzy as Cal was off the pitch tending to the spectators and his hamstring and didn’t actually see the goal – I hear it was fantastic). 3-0 at the half.
Second half had many shots, many great things happen from our special guest keeper John Pearson who gracefully stepped back in goal to help us out as Linus abandoned us for the 1’s. But, no goals in the second half and finished 3-0 to keep us top of the league!
MOTM – Joint for John Pearson and James Thompson, both putting in great performances, James handling a very physical OMT very calm and collectively.
DOTD – Reigning champion Luke for forgetting hockey cannot be played with your feet.“

“Before anybody had set foot on the pitch at Southbury, the captain’s phone was lit up with a slew of excuses for lateness from ‘rum-punch’ to ‘late night at the opera’ and, an early entry for Moose of the Match, ‘forgot my sports bra’.
Eventually, all in attendance, we pushed back against Hendon and Mill Hill hitting the post in the first few minutes. It was frenetic and a little uncontrolled as we were pressured all over the pitch. With possession changing hands frequently, we were unable to string much play together and after at least a double save from Putty, possibly a triple, they got a scrappy one past her. Our best chance in the rest of the first half was a fantastic solo break on the end of Gemma’s long ball- we got a shot away but unfortunately couldn’t make it count.
We performed much better in the second half and carved out lots of chances but unfortunately put 5 or 6 just wide. Similarly, we did have a few short corners where we are usually successful but just couldn’t put them away.
In the end it was a close game that finished 1-0 to them and (testament to the rest of the season) it was a little bit disappointing!
No other moosey behaviour meant that Alicia took Winfield for forgetting her sports bra and Lorna picked up Man on the Match in particular for great tracking and covering a lot of ground.”
