Last year’s match finished a staggering 4-4, so could the current Men’s squad overcome that of the old boys?
Match Report
“On Sunday the M1s took on the Ex-M1s in our season opening friendly at Southbury. A tight first half saw chances at both ends, before Colin Foad set up Joey for a neat deflection on the back post to put the M1s one up.
After the break the old boys from the Ex-M1s started well and soon got their reward with a penalty stroke ably put away by Mark Gray past the flailing stick side of Josh Rider in goal. Game on.
But not for long. Increased intensity from the M1s combined with a tiring (unfit!) old boys team, to create more space and more chances, as Foad reminded everyone of his predatory instinct with 3 quick goals, and Harry Stone then chipping in with his own.
The old boys were not quite done though, as Mark Gray slotted a late consolation goal to make it 5-2 final score.
A great game, and great to see so many old friends back on the pitch together. Thanks everyone – see you all again for next year’s rematch! 🏑”
