“A warm welcome back to Hockey and a trip to A&E for the Men’s 2’s on a bright morning in Chiswick.
Dom’s pre match meal of champions – a Ginsters sausage roll, did him a world of good as he mopped up the middle as always.
A four goal first half for Winch as we dominated play with good hockey, a early rocket from Joe Small wasn’t his only spicy effort throughout the day with some fruity language towards his teammates, scoring our first from a short. Followed by a first half hat trick from “Quicksilver” Colin Foad to take us into the half at 4-0.
Second half began and Chiswick applied far more pressure keeping Winchmore out and grabbing a bouncy goal. Lots of fruity language and frustration from Winchmore but Luke managing to round the keeper for our 5th.
Young debutants Teddy Small and E. Chapman had great showing and honorary mentions for the man of the match for Teddy.
The game had an unfortunate end as VAR ruled John Symons goaline header in the goal out. A wayward shot deflecting off of John’s eyebrow, smashing his glasses and earning him a trip to A&E with Captain Cal. We’re pleased to report John is the proud owner of 6 stitches and was more annoyed about missing out on the post match teas. I’m sure North Mid’s accommodation was far less adequate than the Pavilion pub in Chiswick.
