“A game of 2 halves
A Saturday at 12:15 felt like the dream push back time but the for the team it proved not to be.
The 1st half of the game was electric. Chances being created all over the pitch. Short corner, after short corner after short corner. The team were missing just one thing… a goal.
Despite the efforts of Scho’s drag flicks looking for the corner, Haz working hard to beat the last defender to make the shot or Ellis making last minute runs to the back post. The goal just would not come.
Then right on queue, Chiswick scored! 1-0 going into the break but plenty of areas to work on in the second half and claim all 3 points.
Inspirational words from Neil settled the team and allowed everyone to refocus for the half ahead.
The 2nd half started with the same Winchmore pressure which finally resulted in a short corner routine paying of and Sammy T tomahawking the ball into the net. Game on!
Despite, a dominant display from Toby in defence, Jack providing his usual engine in the midfield (before his two-week hiatus to join the Japan national team) and a camo from Dom upfront the goal would not come.
Up steps Rob (aka the Butcher) to make an unreal off the ball run, pick up the ball from a Schofield pass (this is the most shocking part) to come 1 vs 1 with the keeper only to do nothing with the ball apart from dribble into his stick.
2 minutes to play, Chiswick scored another from a short and got the 3 points, which I personally think Winchmore deserved.
Shout out to Zach for the air-swing shot, keep working on that skill mate!
Thanks to the fans of the match report for giving me some feedback at the clubhouse.
Until next time, I will continue inspiring the next generation Monday to Friday and missing chances on a Saturday.
Cup run starts next week!
