“Another case of hat-trick avoidance…
6 goals, 3 scorers and no hat-tricks.
Following a big 5-0 walk over win (congratulations to Jack on the 5 goals) the boys were primed and ready to go again!
A team loaded with quality, a proper warm up and some inspirational words from the captain pre match the team were ready to do the business.
After a slow 15 minutes to start the match, the team warmed into the game with Scho getting a drag flick from a short corner. Turns out all his after-training practise has paid off!
This woke Winchmore up and the team continued to press forward and look for more goals. Enter scene a man who knows how to score a goal. Who else but Dr Goals aka Quicksilver aka Colin. With a wonderful build up down the right-hand side the ball was fizzed across the D and we all know the result. 2-0.
Half time arrived and the team regrouped, restructured and refocused.
A high press from everyone resulted in turnover of the ball in the oppositions half and 2 more goals followed. Another short corner routine gave Scho his second and some more intricate play down the flanks gave Col his second. Hat-tricks pending…
Some notable performances from Jack, Tom and Adam in the midfield kept the team ticking over, being able to find all the space that was being created by the wingers.
Pushing for a 5th goal the game become more open and Winchmore had plenty of opportunities. A few ‘sitters’ were missed by Rob (named the butcher for a reason), Scho (avoiding buying a jug at the clubhouse) and Colin (passing to his team instead of shooting).
However, these misses didn’t deter the team and Sam stepped up to grab 2 classy goals from the top of the D to give Winchmore a 6-0 win.
Shout-out to the defence of Neil, Toby, Josh and the generational talent (his words) Ross ‘Mr Clutch’ Davidson.
Another win for the captaincy reign and 3 points on the board.
Onto next week we go.
Be lucky!
Rob
