Final week– L1s secure win and sixth place finish

WH&E L1 1 : West Hampstead W3

The Ladies 1s finished the season with a trip to West Hampstead. First obstacle…parking, but eventually we all found somewhere.

The game started and it wasn’t long before Vicki was green carded – apparently her first ever, but we’re not sure we believe her!

It seemed that no one wanted to mark Bethany – West Hampstead’s press was tight on the right, but Bethany was in space on the left all the time, receiving passes from everywhere. Including across the whole pitch multiple times. We were waiting for them to cut it out, but they never did.

A lot of shots from us, and only one shot from West Hampstead, but it remained 0-0 at half-time.

After the break, we descended more into our usual chaos. Karen Goode forgot about short corner rules creating an almost successful chaotic shot from Gem. Some wild air shots meant Shell kept having to avoid being hit on the head.

Finally, after what felt like 100 short corners (their keeper was very good) Sam finally squeezed one in off the post to make it 1-0, which is how it ended, despite some of the usual chaos in the last 2 minutes!

Three points and sixth in the league 😊

WH&E M2 2 : 2 PHC Chiswick M6

The M2s took an early lead with a fine “Chapman” goal – with father and son swapping passes before Theo calmly slotted home top make it 1-0. Chiswick fought back with an equaliser and then another, going into half-time with a 2-1 advantage. However, a better organised Winchmore in the second half, started to create more of a threat and it was another Chapman goal – this time dad Guy finishing well to bring the scores level at 2-2, and earn a well-deserved point.

WH&E L2 2 : 5 Imperial College SM W1

The Ladies 2s wrapped up their season with an away trip to Imperial College, but despite their hosts being bottom of the league and finishing the season with a goal difference of minus 200 (!) they proved to be much tougher opponents. Goals from our young players, Harriet and Alice, the high spot in a disappointing game to finish the season.
