“Despite lack of a warm up, and 3 days of panic ending up with 13 players, we came out of the starting blocks with immense energy against 9 OMT players. With a new formation, including Hannah stepping up into a new role (until injury), we tried to keep our space but didn’t capitalise on the extra players. (Kindly) we waited for them to have the full 11 before Kareen got the first goal in- still early, rattling the oppo. As the goal tally increased with Kareen’s hat trick and Alice’s spectacular goal, so did the opposition’s tempers, and by half time it was 4-1 to us.
Our energy had slightly dropped, but it soon increased after getting into the second half, where we held tight and kept our play good. The presses this match were phenomenal, with the oppo really struggling to see where to put the ball. And when they did get past our forward line, the midfielders were there to swoop in and cut them out, keeping the pressure on them. We had a number of shots just wide including a slip from a short corner hitting the side of the goal and a wide shot along the goal line but not tapped in.
Overall, a very well played match from us, ending up with a 4-2 win, and happy faces all around!
